I call Aunty Agnes and Uncle Ron who are kind but agree it's not ok to talk about fighting in families. I call another Aunty who has known us all our lives as well, she thinks it will all blow over.
I know a woman who went to a city court because her husband hurt her. Heaps of people were angry that she went out of the community for help.
I tell them that I’m worried about our children continuing to see Sam’s outbursts. One tells me, “Be a good wife and help him deal with his anger. We need families to stay together.” Another says, “You’re a strong woman. Do what you must to protect your children.”
I’m more confused.
